The MBIArch is a two-semester program articulated in two phases. The Fall term addresses technological analysis and theoretical concerns, establishing a conceptual basis for design production. Students engage in introductory technical and scientific disciplines as well as in critical and theoretical seminars. Int the Spring term, students synthesize and apply the knowledge acquired in a design-based core studio. The research and design work developed throughout the academic year by students will be assessed at the end of every term. The MBIArch program consists of 60 ECTS [1] credits which are organized according to five areas of study.
Numerous guest critics and lecturers will take part in the program in order to discuss some of the topics in further detail, sharing first-hand knowledge and expertise with students. In doing so the Institute expects to provide students with a more dynamic academic background to establish productive relationships with external collaborators and enrich the overall experience at the Barcelona Institute of Architecture.
