Open Lectures

21/02/2011

Auditori CX La Pedrera / 20:00

The Barcelona Institute of Architecture is pleased to present the first BIArch Open Lecture of the Spring 2011 term. The lecture, "Themes and Works", will be delivered by David Adjaye, Visiting Professor at the Barcelona Institute of Architecture and founder and principal of Adjaye Associates, London.

David Adjaye (Tanzania, 1966) pursued his studies in London, and obtained an architecture degree from the Royal College of Art in 1993. After working with David Chipperfield Architects and Eduardo Souto de Moura and partnering with William Russelland in the 1990s, he founded Adjaye Associates in 2000. Adjaye made a name for his practice with experimental residential projects in London’s East End and for innovative projects that blur the margins of public and private, including the Whitechapel Idea Store, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, or the Stephen Lawrence Center in London. Recent commissions include the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver, the Moscow School of Management/SKOLKOVO, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. and a scheme for affordable housing in Harlem, New York.

David Adjaye will be presented by Manel Bailo, founding partner of bailo+rull | ADD + ARQUITECTURA, Barcelona.

The lecture will take place on Monday, February 21 at 8pm in the Auditorium of La Pedrera (Passeig de Gràcia, 92). Attendance is free, but seating capacity is limited. Please RSVP through Facebook. For more information contact info@biarch.eu.
