The fourth and final of this Fall’s Open Lecture series was delivered by the Catalan architects Manuel Bailo and Rosa Rull on Wednesday, December 21st, in the Auditorium CX of La Pedrera, under the title “Catalyst”.
Manuel Bailo began the lecture with references to the images by the photographer Xavier Ribas (who also introduced the lecture), and their capacity to explain the invisible structure of the public space. Using the concept of Catalysts as a leit motiv, Bailo showed many works and projects departing from the very first catalyst concept which in each case is related to different qualities of the landscape and the site.
The full-length video of Bailo + Rull’s Open Lecture can now be viewed on our Vimeo channel, as well as Xavier Ribas’s introduction. Images of the event have also been published on BIArch’s Flickr page.
Manuel Bailo was an Assistant Professor at BIArch during the 2010-2011 academic year, assisting in the Igualada design studio led by David Adjaye, and more recently participated in the final jury for the short design studio ‘Catalan Metabolism’, directed by Yoshiharu Tsukamoto.
