Toni Gironès

Toni Gironès (Badalona, 1965) graduated from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès and has been in professional practice since 1992. His work has received such recognition as the Young Catalan Architects Prize in 1996, nomination for the International Francesco Borromini Prize in 2001 and the FAD Prize in 2007, and has been published in several international journals including Spazio e Società, Tectónica, Arquitectura Ibérica and Quaderns. He has been Visiting Lecturer at universities in Spain, Argentina, Morocco, Italy and Switzerland. After winning the competition in 2008, he is currently working on a project for the future Museum of Science, Environment and Climate in Lleida. Since 2005 he has been responsible for Architectural Studies at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Reus.
Introduction by:
Pere Riera graduated and gained his PhD from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona. He founded RGA Arquitectes in 1982, producing many projects that have been recognized by numerous Spanish and international awards. He has been involved in the teaching of architecture and design in Barcelona since 1971 and is one of the cultural and professional references for many generations of architects in the city.
