The Barcelona Institute of Architecture is pleased to present the Opening Ceremony of the 2011-2012 academic year and the first Open Lecture of the Fall term. The event will feature a Master Class by architect Bernard Khoury, titled “Combat Architecture”.
Bernard Khoury, founder and principal of Bernard Khoury/DW5 in Beirut, graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design and holds a master in Architectural Studies from Harvard University GSD. In 1993 he started his independent practice and over the past 15 years has gained an international reputation and developed a significant diverse portfolio. In 2001 he won the Borromini prize given to architects under 40 years of age. His work has been published in several international journals including Bawelt, L’architecture d’aujourd’hui, Abitare, Domus among others. He was Visiting Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in 2008 and has lectured and exhibited his work in prestigious academic institutions in Europe and the U.S. including a solo show of his work at the Aedes Gallery in Berlin (2003) and numerous group shows including SPACE at the opening of the MAXXI Museum in Rome (2010).
Bernard Khoury will be presented by Krunoslav Ivanisin, founding partner of Ivanisin. Kabashi. Arhitekti, Zagreb.
